Police officers will be providing a high-visibility presence for the upcoming Radio 2 In The Park festival in Preston.

Radio 2 In The Park will bring three days of incredible live music to Moor Park in Preston from September 6 to September 8.

Sting will front his new power rock trio to headline the BBC’s festivities in Preston on Saturday night.

Pet Shop Boys will headline Sunday night, presenting their highly acclaimed Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live production - a set featuring classic hits and the latest singles from their best-selling new album ‘Nonetheless’.

Police will be providing a high-visibility presence throughout the event, and will be joined by specialist teams to ensure all visitors are safe.

Chief Insp Julie Rawsthorne said: “We are really looking forward to this exciting event coming to Preston and we are well-prepared for the large crowds expected over the three days.

“We have been working closely with the event organisers, BBC Radio 2, the local authority and other key partners to ensure that those who are attending can do so safely and we will have officers in and around the event, from many different teams across the Constabulary to ensure that it is enjoyable for everyone.”

Flight restrictions affecting drones will be imposed above Preston to support the policing operation for the event.

The restrictions will be in place between midday and 11.59pm on each day of the event.

Chief Insp Julie Rawsthrone said: “The airspace restrictions will have an impact on Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), which refers to drones and their users – this does not affect crewed flights. 

“Remember, you commit an offence if you fly within the restricted areas without permission, and your equipment may be seized and confiscated. “
