“It was very emotional, I felt like I had gone a full circle.

It’s gone full circle for Alice Potter - an award winning social media confidence coach in Blackpool who is shaping how fellow business people use social media to enhance their products.

In 2020, the mum-of-one was struggling on Universal Credit whilst looking after her young daughter, Evangeline, now 8.

She was suffering panic attacks, depression and PTSD and didn’t know where to turn.

Fast forward six years and the Blackpool born social media expert has her own business - AJP Social Studio - and is fresh from hosting her own seminar in Manchester, in front of 100 people, whilst raising money for Counselling in the Community - the very people who helped to pull her back from the brink.

“They literally saved my life,” said Alice, now 31, “I really wanted to give something back, I always said that if I was ever in a position to raise money for them, I would and I got my opportunity.

Alice, who went to Montgomery High School is passionate about her home town and when she hosted the Manchester Social Media School - she held a raffle and raised £1,300.

“That will help 250 individuals in Blackpool access the help they need, just like I did.

“It was very emotional, I felt like I had gone a full circle. Thank you to the incredible generosity of the people in the room.”

Alice uses her mental health experience in her work, helping business people feel comfortable about social media, being comfortable in front of a camera and helping to change their mindsets.

She says there are still many people who lead businesses who struggle to use social media to their advantage. For many its a generational issue - older people don’t always know what to do - but younger people too are not always aware of how it can help them.

“We have had some great examples of how business have flourished after being taught how to use social media. It’s about showcasing their businesses, engaging through camera too so that people feel more connected.

“And it’s about networking, people learn from one another. All sessions are about learning and then implementing that knowledge and they leave with that, I just want to see people get better at what they are doing, that’s the most important thing of all.”

Alice runs in-person masterclasses as well as retreats and social media schools. She is also a multi award winner including the one-to-watch Eva award.
