I tried Blackpool's £200 lucky cheese toasty at Pat's Pantry that's made with a secret Gypsy recipe

“It’s not about the bread, the price is for the luck and the fortune.”

A cheese toastie with a whopping £200 price tag has gone on sale in Blackpool, promising buyers a slice of good luck and fortune.

The pricey snack is made to a secret Gypsy recipe known only to Nancy Langton and is now available at Pat’s Pantry inside the new Bonny Street Market.

Nancy, who has run the cafe for three months, said: “With the luck and good fortune it comes with - if anything it’s cheap!”

“I’ve had so much response, some good and some bad and a lot of my regular customers are saving up for it.”

Nancy is a clairvoyant but she gave up the practice after 12 years because she couldn’t face delivering bad news.

“I absolutely hated giving people bad news, if I got a bad feeling when I was doing the reading, I wouldn’t carry on and I couldn’t do that. So I stopped,” she said.

“I’m happy to make six toasties or just one, it depends on the person’s appetite,” she said, “it’s a meal at the end of the day but it’s not about the bread, the price is for the luck and the fortune.”

Despite the interest, Nancy has yet to sell one – except to her sister Sarah Petulengro, a well-known clairvoyant with a booth on Central Pier.

Sarah posted on Instagram: “Who wants to be boring if you can get a £200 cheese toasty in Blackpool? I’ve got to give it a go and find out why it’s so special!

As she bit into the melted cheese on white bread, she said: “I don’t normally eat on camera but I’ve got to try this £200 cheese toasty from Blackpool!”

“But oh my god, I don’t know what they put in this cheese toasty, it was cheap at £200! I can’t eat it elegantly, it’s just too good!
