I stayed overnight in a £17 Blackpool Hotel - here’s what happened
Zac Jones, Liverpool-based digital creator and influencer, braves a £17 night at Blackpool’s Sapphire Hotel.
A stay at the Sapphire Hotel Blackpool is a mixed experience that perfectly captures the phrase “you get what you pay for.”
Zac Jones, a digital creator from Liverpool went and stayed at the Sapphire Hotel in Blackpool for £17 a night, loacted at 279 Promenade, Blackpool.
From the outside and in promotional photos, the hotel gives a surprisingly positive first impression.

Zac said: “The rooms look nice from the photos outside the hotel - some reviews are telling me to avoid at all costs and to shut this place down first impressions are quite good.”
Inside, there are touches that hint at potential - a downstairs bar area with a lively atmosphere and even a dance pole, alongside basic in-room extras like a coffee station and TV.
For a budget stay at around £17, those features may appeal, especially for guests just looking for somewhere to sleep.
Zac said: “It’s boiling in here, it’s small and it has very little to show other than a bed. We do have a coffee station and a TV, it’s worth £17 just because it has netflix and prime.

“I only just fit inside the bathroom there’s a slight smell and you get a shower. The downstairs area looks nice where you can have a drink and stuff. There’s a pole to dance on.”
Some guests have reported issues with cleanliness, maintenance and a lingering smell, while others describe rooms as dated and poorly kept.
That said, not every aspect disappoints. The location on the promenade is a clear plus, and some visitors praise the staff and value for money, acknowledging that a low price inevitably comes with compromises.
Ultimately, the Sapphire Hotel sits firmly in the budget category. If you’re paying £17 for the night, access to streaming services and a bed may be enough to justify the stay.
