I stayed at Blackpool’s biggest hotel for just £37 a night... here’s what nobody tells you

Earlier this year, digital creator Spencer (aka Gully) stayed overnight at one of Blackpool’s most recognisable hotels...

For just £37 a night the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool offers a huge seaside experience with bingo, shows and sea views, Digital creator Spencer (aka Gully) stayed overnight to find out.

Blackpool’s Norbreck Castle Hotel is one of the town’s most iconic and largest hotels, boasting 487 rooms along the promenade, located on Norbreck Rd, Norbreck, Blackpool FY2 9AA. With a mix of online reviews praising the location and questioning the condition of the rooms, digital creator Spencer, better known as Gully, decided to see for what the budget-friendly hotel was like.

Spencer said: “For £37, you get a multi-bed room with a sea-facing view. It’s actually alright.”

The sheets - according to Spencer - were clean, the room was spacious enough, and the sheer scale of the hotel gave it an almost airport-like feeling. The bathroom, he admitted, felt a little “hospital-like,” but overall, the stay was comfortable.

Spencer said: "For £37, I got a multi-bed room with a sea view. The beds were clean, the bathroom felt a bit like a hospital, and the sleep wasn’t amazing - I’d rate it 5 out of 10, but the hospitality was solid. The hotel also has a sauna and a gym, which were just a few pounds extra, so for budget travellers it’s a surprisingly good deal.

“Navigating the place is a bit of a maze, and some areas are locked off at certain times, but overall it’s a quirky, classic Blackpool experience. Considering the location, size, and price, I’d give it a 7 to 7.5 out of 10. It’s not luxury, but for a night in Blackpool, it’s worth a look."

The Norbreck Castle isn’t just a place to sleep - it’s a hub of classic Blackpool entertainment. From bingo nights to the Kings of the Castle show complete with an Elvis contest there’s plenty to do for guests of all ages.

While some visitors might be put off by dated decor or worn facilities, Spencer’s experience proves that for budget travellers seeking a quirky seaside stay the hotel delivers on value and atmosphere.

For those who love budget-friendly stays with character, Norbreck Castle remains a unique option.
