How In Bloom group's inventive use of an old speedboat is adding to Ansdell's appeal
"We're delighted with how the speedboat looks - this once drab corner is now a much nicer place to be"
An old speedboat has been gradually transformed to create an eye-catching display in Ansdell ahead of In Bloom judges coming to call.
The craft was acquired via Facebook Marketplace by Ansdell In Bloom chairman Alan Roe three years ago and has been on the corner of Blackpool Road and Woodlands Road since, filled with plants and pointing the way to the village shops.

But with Ansdell being nominated this year to take part in the national Britain In Bloom awards as well as North West In Bloom, Alan and the team felt it was time for a bright new look.
The speedboat has been painted, fitted and decorated with a couple of planters by the In Bloom team and Lytham Community Workshop has supplied a bench to go alongside it in a colourful display, which also includes a lighthouse figure.

The North West In Bloom judges are in Ansdell on July 10 and the village gets the Britain In Bloom once over on August 4.
Alan said: "We're delighted with how the speedboat looks and my thanks to everyone who has been involved - this once drab corner is now a much nicer place to be."
