"Heartfealt thanks": GoFundMe for funeral of Blackpool man Connor Parfitt reaches £6,900

“Just want to express our heartfelt thanks for the donations so far”

A GoFundMe appeal launched to help cover the funeral costs of Blackpool man Connor Parfitt, 24, who drowned off the coast of Wales last week, has raised nearly £7,000.

The GoFundMe, created by someone close to the Parfitt family, has amassed £6900 of its £8000 target in just four days.

Connor tragically drowned off the coast of Pwllheli last week after taking a kayak out to sea with his friend, Simon Wilson. His body was found on a beach in Aberystwyth on 27 July.

A heartfelt message accompanies the GoFundMe fundraiser, created on July 27 by family friend Michelle Tobin. It reads: “Just want to express our heartfelt thanks for the donations so far - please continue to share the post so we can give Con the best send off he truly deserves.

“He was a much-loved son, grandson, brother, cousin and friend, and his loss has left an enormous hole in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him.

“As a family, we want to give him the beautiful send-off he deserves and allow those closest to him to focus on grieving, rather than worrying about the financial burden that comes with arranging a funeral.

“With the full support and permission of his family, we have created this fundraiser to help cover funeral and memorial costs. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be received with immense gratitude. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page would mean so much to us.”

Connor had only been living in Wales for three weeks after starting a new job at the Haven Caravan Park Hafan Y Mor.

Both Connor and his companion, Simon Wilson, both tragically drowned whilst out at sea on their inflatable kayaks.

The GoFundMe statement added: “Every penny raised will go directly towards giving Connor the farewell he deserves. If there are any funds remaining after funeral expenses, they will be used towards a memorial in his honour.

“Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support during this incredibly difficult time. Most of all, thank you for helping us celebrate the life of a young man who will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
