For others, it was family traditions that stood out.

Jean Horn wrote: "My family went to Blackpool every year from Scotland we were together, those were the days. Stanley Park but my favourite was The Winter Gardens. The acts I saw back then from Les Dawson, Cannon and Ball and the late great Joe Longthorne but most of all the good people of Blackpool for putting up with us from Scotland."

Ian Gayton remembered: "Calling into the New Yorker café to get a free ice cream off my grandma who worked there for years and going down to the Colosseum Bus station with my bagging truck."

Kelly Taylor recalled: "Going with my nanna on a works trip and three men doing a moonie."

Jim Scrivener shared one of the more humorous memories, saying: "Sitting outside The George on Central Drive with a lemonade and crisps. Meanwhile parents inside getting smashed. Happy days."

Other readers highlighted much-loved events and traditions, with Samantha Ashworth recalling "Party in the park" and Dorothy Cross Bingle remembering "Blackpool rock and lights."

Together, the comments offer a snapshot of summers gone by in Blackpool, showing that for many people it is the simple moments with family, iconic attractions and traditional seaside experiences that remain the most treasured memories decades later.
