Exciting 'Together We Can Do' partnership brings inclusive football training to the whole of the Fylde Coast

“This new pathway builds on our fun and recreational football sessions”

Together We Can Do and Thornton-Cleveleys Football Club launch a special partnership this week to create an inclusive football pathway for disabled adults across the coast.

The partnership will provide opportunities for players of all abilities from development sessions through to competitive football in the Lancashire FA Ability Counts League.

Michelle O’Neil, Partnership Development and Operations Manager at Together We Can Do, said: “This partnership marks the beginning of a really exciting journey for Together We

Can Do and our members.

“By listening to our members and our Members’ Forum, we know just how important access to physical activity and sport can be. It can improve health and wellbeing, build confidence and friendships, and help reduce social isolation.

“This new pathway builds on our fun and recreational football sessions, strengthens our development opportunities and will support our teams to compete in the Lancashire FA Ability Counts League.

“We are incredibly excited to become part of the Thornton-Cleveleys football community. We hope our members, families, friends and supporters will get behind the partnership and come along to support both Together We Can Do and Thornton Cleveleys FC.”

Thornton-Cleveleys FC Chairman Steve Abbott said: “It’s great to open our facilities to everybody in the community and being fully inclusive. We want people to enjoy the facilities we have and, hopefully, they will have a good time whilst being with us.

“This meets certain criteria for both the club and Together We Can Do. This partnership means our facilities can be used by everyone in the community.”

The two organisations share a commitment to ensuring that football is welcoming, accessible and inclusive, giving every player the opportunity to participate, develop and feel part of a wider football community.

It will be launched on Friday September 4 from 4.30pm to 6pm at Thornton Cleveleys FC in Gamble Road.

The event is open to existing Together We Can Do members and anyone new who would like to find out more, and get involved.

Following the open event, Together We Can Do players will train at Gamble Road every Friday from 4:30pm – 6.30pm.
