Dance music guru to open Fylde coast bar

Alex Huckerby, who is one of the driving forces behind Blackpool Rocks at the Winter Gardens, is transforming the former Stocks German restaurant building in Market Place.

The building, which later became Gennars and also a takeaway, is being converted into Truth, a bar specialising in cocktails and music.

He is working together with businessman John Preston on the £250,000 project and said they aim to make Truth ‘the greatest drinking establishment Poulton has seen’.

They said the building will be converted in two phases with the first due to be completed in time for a VIP opening on May 17 and 18.

Alex said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming locals in to Truth as it fills a large gap in the Poulton nightlife.

“Nightclubs are a thing of the past now and I believe a bar like Truth is the missing piece in the jigsaw.

“The atmosphere inside the venue will create a safe environment where you can enjoy spending time with your friends till the early hours.

“The fresh design scheme for Truth incorporates a bold colour palette with bright tones and stunning marble patterns to complement its lavish gold bar.

“The second stage will be carried out later in the year and will involve further investment into the building.

“This will see the overhaul of the downstairs into a small wine bar and restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere.”

He added that they had teamed up with ‘two of the top mixologists in the country’ to create a range of cocktails.

The bar will open to the public on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20 and will have a late licence until 1.30am with an over 21s policy.

Alex relaunched the famous Hush R’nB and Hip Hop dance music nights at Brannigans in Blackpool last year and organises the huge Blackpool Rocks house music and dance event.

Normally held at the Winter Gardens, in 2015 it was headlined by Alex’s friend and Radio One DJ Danny Howard.
