From a woman charged with defrauding her own grandfather to an electrician accused of stalking – these are 15 cases from Blackpool Magistrates' Court between March 8 and March 14.

Woman accused of defrauding her grandad

A woman made her first appearance at court charged with committing fraud against her own grandfather.

Tracey Hislop, 52, also known as Wilcock, faces two allegations involving a total of £25,000.

The court heard Hislop, of Princess Avenue, Poulton had power of attorney over 88-year-old rest home resident Dennis Studholme’s finances.

Over a 14 month period, Hislop is alleged to have defrauded £11,000 in rest home fees and £14,000 in cash.

She did not enter pleas at Blackpool Magistrates Court and her cases were sent to Preston Crown Court where she will appear on Tuesday, March 21 .

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client maintained her grandfather told her the money was her’s to do as she wanted, but matters had changed since the 88-year-old met a new partner.

The charges allege Hislop dishonestly abused her position of trust while having power of attorney and was expected not to act against his financial interests.

Cocaine driver banned for three years

A man drove through Fleetwood well over the drug drive limit for the Class A drug cocaine.

Police attention was drawn to Richard Bailey's Honda car because of a blue tarpaulin over the rear window.

Bailey, 42, of Ennerdale Avenue, Fleetwood admitted having 200mg of cocaine in his body. The limit is 50mg.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said that Bailey was seeking help through drug aid organisations.

Blackpool Magistrates heard that the Honda was seen on Birch Street by police.

Bailey, who had a previous conviction for the same offence, was given a three year driving ban and was ordered to pay £274 in fines and costs.

Drunk train passenger abusive to police

A drunk man travelling on a train fell onto the platform when the train doors opened.

Andrew Duff, 35, of Gaytree Court, Beechwood, Wirrall admitted being drunk and disorderly on the Lytham to Preston train on Wednesday, February 22.

Blackpool Magistrates ordered him to pay £253 in fines and costs after hearing he was abusive to police and ambulance staff.

Man jailed after entering town centre

A 47-year-old Blackpool man has been jailed for eight weeks by the town's magistrates.

Reginald Brown, of no fixed address, admitted breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order which bans him from the town centre.

Brown was found by police sitting on Talbot Road drinking from a can of lager.

He was jailed because of his persistent breaches of the order.

Burglary suspect was armed with crowbar

A man was charged with being armed with a crowbar during an attempted burglary at a home in the resort.

Joseph Fox, 57, of Regent Road, Blackpool pleaded not guilty to entering a house on Caroline Street with intent to steal.

He was sent for trial at Preston Crown Court where he will appear on Tuesday, April 11.

He was granted bail subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew and must not enter Caroline Street.

Drug addict jailed

A man was jailed for seven days after he admitted breaching the terms of his post-sentence supervision by probation.

Blackpool Magistrates sent Thomas Barratt, 41, of Park Road, to prison after deciding there were no other forms of punishment available.

Steven Townley, defending, said Barrett’s drug habit lifestyle faced a possible change because his client was due to receive an inheritance.

Man threatened to jump off pier

A 37-year-old man called police and threatened to kill himself by jumping off one of Blackpool's piers.

Anthony Cage, of Haddon Street, Salford, admitted making the call in which he said he would harm officers if they approached him.

Blackpool Magistrates handed Cage a six month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £161 costs.

The court heard Gage had been suffering mental health issues at the time of the offence in June last year.

He also admitted criminal damage to a police car door handle worth £50.

Plasterer in court

A Blackpool man who admitted breaching the terms of a community punishment has had five extra rehabilitation days added by Blackpool Magistrates.

Plasterer Jonny Franks, 36, of Woolman Road, Blackpool failed to attend probation appointments.

His lawyer David Charnley said Franks had been drinking too much since the deaths of both his parents.

Arrest warrant issued for solicitor

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a solicitor.

Blackpool Magistrates issued the order for James Michael Gregson, 48, of Lytham St Annes.

Gregson was due to face an allegation of harassment of a woman.

It would have been his fifth appearance at court on the offence.

Electrician accused of stalking woman

A man facing a stalking allegation has been bailed.

Electrician Leo Astin, 36, of Sandringham Avenue, Thornton is said to have stalked a woman by phone calls, emails and turning up at her home over a two month period.

Astin was bailed after pleading not guilty to the offence.

His trial will take place at Blackpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 4.

Man jailed for stealing pensioner's car

A man was drunk when he spotted a car with the ignition key inside.

Darren Shaw, of London Street, Fleetwood, took the Citreon owned by a 75-year-old man and threw the man's golf clubs into a garden.

The 40-year-old admitted taking the car without consent.

He also admitted failing to provide a specimen when asked by police.

Deputy District Judge Laura Nash heard how an inebriated Shaw drove the car to his flat where his girlfriend argued with him over what he had done.

Police were called and he twice refused to be breathalysed.

Shaw also admitted breaching a previously imposed community order.

Defence lawyer Steven Townley said Shaw had been "drunk and belligerent" when he took the car after noticing the key on a seat.

Shaw was jailed for sixteen weeks and banned from driving for 17 months.

Man accused of assault breaches curfew 6 times

A Fleetwood man breached a court imposed curfew six times.

Blackpool Magistrates heard how the breaches, which occurred in February and March, were very brief.

Grant Sandiford, 37, of Bold Street, is awaiting Crown Court sentence for an assault on a relative .

He was rebailed.

Man fails to keep GPS monitoring tag charged

A man has admitted breaching his bail by failing to keep his GPS monitoring tag charged.

Louis Campbell, 28, of Buchanan Street was rebailed at the town's magistrates court.

He is on bail pending sentence for an assault at Preston Crown Court on Thursday, May 4.

He must keep out of Manchester Road,,Blackpool , as a term of his bail.

Blackpool man failed to keep probation appointments

A 22-year-old Blackpool man has admitted failing to keep in touch with probation services.

Jordan Desjardins, of Lytham Road, was fined £80 at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court and warned about his conduct.

He failed to keep home and office appointments following his release from prison.

Man denies domestic abuse charges

A man has denied two offences of threatening behaviour towards his female partner.

William Dickson, 39, of Whitegate Drive, was bailed by Blackpool Magistrates pending his trial on Wednesday, June 7.
