Blackpool driver arrested after A30 crash leaves man in his 90s with ‘life-threatening injuries’

A Blackpool man was arrested after a pensioner was seriously injured in a collision near Bodmin.

Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A30 shortly before 12.20pm on Wednesday (October 26).

The incident – which involved a red Vauxhall Agila and a Renault recovery vehicle – occurred on the eastbound carriageway at Minzies near Bodmin.

The driver of the Agila, a man in his 90s, was airlifted to hospital with “suspected life-threatening injuries”.

A 62-year-old man from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team and Serious investigation units attended the scene and carried out a detailed investigation,” a spokesman for Devon & Cornwall Police said.

“Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any information which would assist the investigation.”

Witnesses should call 101, quoting log number 305 of October 26.
