Blackpool firm wins Video Production Company of the Year at Manchester & North West England Prestige Awards

A Blackpool filmmaker has been honoured at a prestigious North West awards ceremony.

Brian Hurst, the founder of Brian David Films was thrilled when his Blackpool firm was named Video Production Company of the Year at the Manchester & North West England Prestige Awards 2026/27.

The Manchester & North West England Prestige Awards celebrate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), local businesses, and independent specialists across the region.

The Fylde coast business, headed by experienced videographer Brian Hurst, was recognised for its professional video production and live-streaming services. The award comes as the company approaches 2,000 live-streamed events, watched by viewers around the world.

While Brian David Films undertakes a wide range of video work, it has become particularly well known across the North West for its live-streaming service for funeral directors and families.

The service allows relatives and friends who cannot attend in person, sometimes because they live hundreds or thousands of miles away, to be part of the service remotely. The emphasis throughout is on keeping the technology as unobtrusive as possible at what is an extremely difficult time for families.

Brian Hurst, a Master Member of the Institute of Videography, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It means a great deal to us because we have always concentrated on providing a professional service rather than seeking the limelight ourselves.

“Our funeral work in particular is very different from other types of videography. The last thing you want is for people to be conscious of the cameras. Our aim is to do the job professionally and discreetly, and allow the family to concentrate on what really matters.

“I would like to thank all of our clients and the funeral directors we work with for their continued trust and support.”

Brian David Films provides professional video production and live-streaming services from the Fylde Coast, working with clients across the North West and beyond. The company specialises in professional, discreet and reliable video services for events, organisations and families.

A spokesperson for the Prestige Awards said: “We had a large number of results for this year's program, but the judges were most impressed with their personal touch, consistency of reviews, online activity and community feel.”
