Crews from Blackpool RNLI were paged just before 8pm last night after emergency reports that a number of children were in difficulty in the sea under North Pier - the high tide was in to the seawall.
A lifeboat spokesperson said crews were on the scene within four minutes - their 11th callout this week.
“Crews onboard D-Class inshore lifeboat Phyllis Rowen quickly found three people who were all dangerously clinging on to pier stanchions with crashing waves around them.
“The lifeboat manouevred alongside the pier stanchions in turn to allow the crew to safely pull the children into the boat.”

The adult had climbed higher up the pier supports and by this stage, a second crew was on the scene in the Atlantin 85 lifeboat.
“The D Class crew then made to the decision, out of urgency, to take the chilren back to shore, near South Pier, where paramedics were waiting.”
Crews onboard Atlantic then safely rescued the adult and returned to shore.
“Minutes can save lives, as this has shown today, if you see anything of concern at sea, or on the beach, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
