Blackpool fire crews tackle early morning blaze in South Shore as Lancashire Police shut Harrington Avenue

Blackpool fire crews were called out after smoke was seen rising from a shop in South Shore this morning (Thursday, June 30).

Police closed Harrington Avenue whilst four fire engines and their crews tackled the fire at the former offices of a suspended ceiling supplier at around 5.25am.

Drone footage by JC Photography shows firefighters forcing their way into the semi-detached building, next to Irie Hair and Beauty salon, to extinguish the fire inside.

A fire service spokesman said: “Four fire engines from South Shore, St Annes and Blackpool attended an incident on Harrington Avenue, Blackpool.

"The fire involved a fire at a commercial property. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used three hose reels and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

"Crews currently remain in attendance.”

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has not said what caused the fire at this stage, but the Gazette has asked for further details.
