‘Blackpool has talent and ambition’

The Good Food Guide's annual awards recognise independent restaurants that play a central role in their local communities. The Top 100 list is compiled from tens of thousands of public nominations before being independently assessed by the guide's nationwide team of anonymous inspectors.

“Blackpool deserves to be recognised for more than its coastline,” read a statement from the restaurant. “It deserves to be recognised for its excellence. [We’re] standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the UK’s finest independent restaurants in cities such as London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Bristol.

“This recognition isn’t just about one restaurant. It’s about proving that Blackpool can compete on the national stage. It’s about changing perceptions, attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and showing that world-class hospitality can flourish here.

“We’re incredibly proud to fly the flag for our town and hope this achievement inspires others to see Blackpool not only as a great place to visit, but as a destination for outstanding food, creativity and independent enterprise.

“Blackpool has the talent. Blackpool has the ambition. Blackpool belongs on the UK’s culinary map. Thank you to everyone who has supported our journey.”

Hat-trick

Inspectors visit shortlisted restaurants without identifying themselves, book as regular customers and pay for their own meals before submitting reports to editors, who make the final decision on which venues are included.

The guide says its awards celebrate "the independent restaurants that define their neighbourhoods", highlighting exciting and affordable places to eat across Great Britain, from city dining rooms to rural gems.

Previously known as Readers' Restaurant of the Year and later Local Restaurant of the Year, the awards have evolved over time but continue to champion outstanding independent restaurants at the heart of their communities.

For  Sé Anar, the latest recognition marks a hat-trick of appearances in one of the UK's most respected restaurant guides.
