I quit my NHS job to open my own cafe in Poulton and the response has been amazing

A new cafe has quickly been making a name for itself in Poulton-le-Fylde after opening its doors earlier this month.

Ottie, which launched on November 1 is the latest independent business to join the town’s thriving food and drink scene.

The cafe is owned by 24-year-old Jasmine Perry who made the bold decision to leave her career in the NHS to pursue her dream of running her own coffee shop.

Having spent years working in mental health services and later in clinical governance at Preston Hospital, Jasmine said she felt it was time for a complete lifestyle change.

Jasmine said: “I just needed a change in life. I didn’t want to work at a desk anymore and wanted to be my own boss, so I took the plunge.”

Since opening, Ottie has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response from customers. J

asmine said the cafe has been “super busy”, with a growing number of regulars and visitors travelling in from surrounding areas after spotting the cafe on social media.

Jasmine said: “Our Instagram following has grown really quickly and people have been posting about us a lot.

“We’ve had loads of great feedback with people saying everyone’s talking about it in Poulton and beyond. Getting regulars coming back is always the best sign.”

The menu focuses on quality coffee alongside freshly prepared food with new items already being introduced.

Two new bagels have recently been added, while the cafe’s yoghurt bowls have also been updated with extra toppings. Jasmine hinted that more menu additions are planned in the near future.

Looking ahead, Jasmine has ambitious plans for Ottie, including the possibility of expansion.

While she says multiple shops could be a long-term goal her immediate focus is on building the Poulton cafe and her team.

She said: “I want to build this one up as much as I can first, It’s my first baby.

“I’d also love to explore doing events with a coffee trailer in the future, which would be a great way to reach new areas and trial where to expand.”

Ottie is located at 10 Blackpool Old Road, Poulton Le Fylde.

Monday-Friday: 8am-15:30pm

Saturday-Sunday: 9am-15:30pm
