A new chapter of virtual talks from popular author Dan
Author Dan Worsley has been inspiring a love of reading in youngsters by giving video talks to schools and community groups.
Young book lovers from 1st Bispham and 5th Blackpool Scout Groups were the latest to be treated to an evening of storytelling from Dan, who has penned novels including Impossible
Tales and the Eric Appleby series.
The youngsters were encouraged to compose poems for World Poetry Day, which were then judged by Dan who chose nine-year-old Polly Curtis as the winner.
He said: “It was a joy and a pleasure to join the meeting.
“I love to encourage people to keep reading and always believe that anything is possible.”
Philip Mather, from Blackpool Scouts, said: “The District is encouraging our young people to actively take part in ‘World Days’. Our Zoom meetings are proving popular, allowing our young
people to continue to get their badges and awards.”
