Having taught at Layton Primary School for 15 years, Dan developed what topics the children were most enthusiastic about when reading.

He then decided that he wanted to create stories that would encourage children to read, something which Dan is very passionate about.

“Ultimately, I’m on a literary mission to get lots of children and young people excited about reading and writing”

Dan’s first book ‘Impossible Tales’ captured the imaginations of many children, as did his first Eric book: ‘Eric Appleby: Zero to Hero”.

Two years on, Dan has reunited the team who originally made Eric a reality and produced a sequel that will once again ignite children’s passion for reading.

‘Eric Appleby: Danger Zone’ sees underdog hero Eric once again undertake a rip-roaring adventure sure to engage young minds.

This summer Dan will focus his time on writing his next book, as well as visiting libraries across Blackpool and Lancashire, performing his stories to his young readers.

He will also be visiting both primary and secondary schools in term time across the North West, something which he is passionate about.

“Meeting the young readers is the best aspect of being a children’s author and storyteller,” Dan added.
