Zest Lytham awarded new 5 star hygiene rating in reinspection after last month's 1 star score
Lytham restaurant and wine bar Zest has been awarded five stars after being revisited by hygiene inspectors.
It follows a disappointing 1 star rating handed down last month when inspectors visited the Market Square restaurant unannounced.
After the initial inspection on January 8, Fylde Council said improvements were needed in regards to hygienic food handling, and ‘major improvement’ in the management of food safety.
The cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building were found to be ‘generally satisfactory’, added the inspectors.
Five star revisit
But Zest was revisited last week and was awarded a new rating of 5 (out of 5).
David Kessack, enforcement manager for Fylde Council’s Food Health & Safety team, confirmed the new score to the Gazette. He said the rating on the Food Standards Agency website will be updated in due course.
He said: “I can confirm that Zest, Lytham was revisited and reinspected on February 5, 2026. At that inspection they achieved a rating of 5.
“However, please note that updated scores do not appear on the Food Standards Agency website immediately, so there can be a delay before the new rating is shown publicly.”

This week Zest was recognised by Fylde Borough Council for its more than two decades of service to the community.
The restaurant was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Council, marking 24 years since its doors opened in Market Square. Since opening its doors more than two decades ago, Zest has built “a strong reputation for consistency, community spirit and customer service” said the Council.
Zest shared the news on social media this week, thanking the Council for the recognition and praising its team for their continued dedication.
