Born within a goal kick of St James’ Park, football was always going to be Charlie’s calling in life. Unfortunately, he lacked an aptitude (that’s putting it lightly) for the beautiful game so settled for the next best avenue: sports reporting. Charlie worked for The Chronicle, the Liverpool Echo, the Manchester Evening News and a host of other Reach PLC titles before joining National World. After a stint covering several Premier League clubs, Charlie soon became one of our Newcastle United writers for NewcastleWorld, reporting on all things black and white - his dream job. When not writing about football, you can find him in a pub or a gym. Quite the contradiction! Charlie is a lifelong Newcastle United fan but that does not prevent him from reporting accurately or holding to account the club he loves.
