Hip, Hip, Hooray for St George’s Day
It was all dragons and roses all round at Glenroyd care home, in Blackpool, as residents and staff celebrated St George’s Day.
Legend has it St George was a soldier in the Roman army who slayed a dragon and saved a princess, the anniversary of his death is celebrated as England’s national day.

In honour of the patron saint of England, staff and residents at the home celebrated with a special street party in the garden. Everyone dressed in their finest red and white, creating a festive atmosphere for the occasion. Residents enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by the home’s catering team, accompanied by a glass of wine. With music playing in the background, they shared fond memories of past St George’s Day celebrations and enjoyed spending quality time together. Residents were also delighted to welcome singer Marianne, whose performance had everyone tapping their feet, clapping along and singing with joy.
General Manager, Yvonne Hand said: “Everyone at Glenroyd really enjoyed today’s festivities. We had everything from staff dress up in fancy dress for the day to an outdoor dining and live music. Everyone was really keen to get involved.’’

Evelyn, a resident, said: “I have really enjoyed celebrating St George’s Day today with a special street party. The staff here always think of everything and make sure we make the most of occasions like this.”
