Venue sets tricky task for would-be writers

Teaming up with High Jinx magic and illusion show and the Gazette’s Junior Gazette pages, Viva is on the look out for a new, young journalist.

The ‘high-paced’ two-hour, family-friendly show is staged by Michael Jordan – a magician and illusionist who was named the Magic Circle’s young magician of the year in 2009, aged 18.

High Jinx will make its return to Viva, following last season’s move to the Church Street venue, with half-term shows on Tuesday, February 16 and Thursday, February 18.

As the show is packed full of illusions, juggling, escapology and music, and has been proven to leave kids of all ages enthralled, amazed and baffled as to how the tricks have been performed, Viva has made it the focus for its Young Entertainment Reporter contest.

Children aged under 13 are being urged to bring along their notepad and pen to the performance, when they can make notes about the show, so they can then write a review of the night’s entertainment.

The winning entry will be published in the Gazette’s Junior Gazette pages, with the writer taking home the Viva young entertainment reporter trophy, plus a special prize.

Viva’s managing director Martin Heywood said: “Viva Blackpool is all about showcasing top talent, while also fostering new talent and giving it a stage.

“Our young entertainment reporter contest follows this ethos and will reward a child who can describe the High Jinx show for the benefit of others, while also conveying their own opinions of what they have seen.

“It would be fantastic if, through this contest, we could set a child on a career path that results in them one day becoming an entertainment journalist.”

The competition opens for entry on February 16 and will close on March 4.
