Jeremy Kyle show suspended indefinitely after guest dies following filming

The Jeremy Kyle show has been suspended indefinitely and will not be aired today after a guest died shortly after filming.

Broadcaster ITV confirmed Monday's show would not air in a statement.An ITV spokeswoman said: "Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in and our thoughts are with their family and friends.

“ITV will not screen the episode in which they featured.

“Given the seriousness of this event, ITV has also decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show with immediate effect in order to give it time to conduct a review of this episode of the show.”

Dickinson's Real Deals was aired instead of the Jeremy Kyle Show at 09:30am on Monday (13 May) morning. The Jeremy Kyle Show has been running for 14 years.

A celebrity edition of the show starring former X Factor contestant Christopher Maloney and ex-EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook was due to air on Tuesday, but will be rescheduled, according to both stars.

Maloney tweeted: "Hi guys, just spoken to the producers @ITVJeremyKyle and our celebrity special will be aired at a later date @westbrookdanni will keep you updated. In the meantime my thoughts are with the family at this time."

Westbrook tweeted: "I've just been informed @ITVJeremyKyle will now not be airing tomorrow. I'm hoping you guys get to see it at a later date but catch me on @loosewomen tomorrow."

Westbrook later told her followers that she will not be appearing on Loose Women either.

The tabloid talk show sees host Kyle and psychotherapist Graham Stanier help the guests talk through their personal issues in front of a studio audience.

The programme has had its regular daytime morning slot on ITV for 14 years.
