And the Grundy Art Gallery will continue to receive financial support.

A statement read: "Blackpool Grand brings the best of touring contemporary dance and theatre to the town and we are offering the organisation increased funding so that it can extend this work with families and very young children, particularly in dance.

"(The award to Art B&B will) support the development, which will be a traditional bed and breakfast re-imagined by artists as a small-scale space for exhibiting, developing and staging artists’ work whilst still functioning as a small hotel for paying guests.

"We have also invested a total of £4m in Left Coast, our Creative People and Places programme in Blackpool, to give the local community opportunities to get involved in the town’s art and cultural life."

Jane Beardsworth, the Arts Council’s North Director said: “We are delighted to support the cultural sector across Lancashire through greater investment.

"This will increase opportunities for a wide range of people to enjoy high quality arts and culture close to where they live. We are supporting local artists and through funding for work with children and young people we are helping to develop the next generation of artists and audiences.”

The funding is part of an 18 per cent increase across Lancashire with the Arts Council pledging to spend more than £10m from April 2018 to 2022 across its national portfolio.
