Lowther’s fourth Food & Drink Festival promises to provide a big attraction for families to enjoy the award-winning Lowther Gardens on the stunning Fylde Coast.

The three-day event across the bank holiday weekend, from Saturday 26th - Monday 28th August, includes outdoor performances of Alice in Wonderland and musicians in the park.

Imagine falling down a rabbit hole and experiencing the delights of a world where things appear by magic and really are as mad as they seem. The musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland promises to get you dancing, as you meet its fantastic characters and join the Mad Hatter’s tea party.

There is also a Lowther’s Garden Activity Pack designed to help over-fives to explore the historic gardens. The 24-page pack of fun activities will guide you on an adventure through puzzles, a flower hunt and treasure trail with Miss Foxy, the resident fox.

As well as great food to taste and drinks to quench your thirst, the festival includes the Creative Crafts Association Craft Fair and small fairground rides for all of the family.

Choice of over 90 films from across the globe

Meanwhile, Lytham International Film Festival is offering a wide selection of over 90 films from filmmakers across the world with viewings from Friday 25th - Sunday 27th August.

From producer and Academy Award-Winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis comes a chilling short story about a woman involved in a delivery scam that grows increasingly strange, with Return To Sender.

Festival organisers have scoured the globe to create a showcase of the best independent cinema films, for the first in-person event in three years.

Unconquered, which is written, directed and produced by John Parr, follows the true story of two elite soldiers injured in the line of duty. While closer to home is Short Stay, Long Stay, written and directed by a filmmaker from Blackpool about two men working in rival car parks who have one week to say goodbye when they learn that their jobs are ending.

Audiences can expect a strong programme of films offering a wealth of unique voices and stories striving to rise above the noise of the mainstream.

Filmmaker and Festival Director Ed Greenberg said: “This year’s filmmakers have all poured their hearts and souls into their craft and produced incredible works that deserves to be seen and celebrated.”
