Top prices paid for legendary band's singles
A renewed wave of interest in Blackpool 60s legends the Rockin' Vickers has seen their singles selling for three figure sums on eBay.
The band hit the headlines after more than 40 years of obscurity when former guitarist Lemmy died earlier this year.
Lemmy achieved worldwide fame as the leader of heavy metal giants Motorhead and as a member of 70s rockers Hawkwind.
But he began his career with the Vickers, touring all over the North West and Scotland and releasing a handful of singles, including a cover of Dandy by the Kinks and and early version of The Who’s The Kids are Alright.
Now a new generation of fans are spending hundreds in a bid to buy original copies of the Vicker’s small output.
Last year a limited edition seven inch single of Dandy was released as part of record store day and that is already selling for up to six times its £7 asking price.
Originals from the band’s heyday are commanding prices of up to £300.
Former member turned car dealer Harry Feeney said: “We were famous for filling places rather than topping the charts – and even got banned from telly.”
