Lego Jurassic World: Every Jurassic Park fans dream

It was teased at the end of Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (not so subtly) but now it is here. Lego Jurassic World developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by Warner Bros Interactive. Don’t let the name fool you, Lego Jurassic World not only replicates the new blockbuster film’s events but also the events of the original trilogy adding in the unique famous Lego humour to them. I’ve not yet seen the film which may or may not be a good thing with it being recreated here, I was scared it would spoil it for me, but being such a fan of the original films, I didn’t care.

As done before with Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Lego Movie, Lego Jurassic World is a faithful recreation of the Jurassic Park trilogy of films as well as the brand new film starring Chris Pratt. Pressing New Game takes you to the iconic Raptor loading scene which is what we see the moment we press play on the 1993 film. What follows is every single well known iconic scene such as the Visitor Centre tour starring Mr DNA, the famous Tyrannosaur rampage of San Diego and the Pterodactyl bridge scene. It’s not a straight up recreation though; this is a Lego game after all so expect the Lego humour in pretty much every scene. One example is during the superb T.Rex chase scene as the car carrying Ian Malcolm, Ellie Sattler and Robert Muldoon drive under a tree, the T.Rex hits hit in a slapstick manner, it’s a hilarious twist.

Voice acting is a mixture of audio ripped straight from the films and near perfect copies. What stuck out to me was Ray Arnold (Samuel L. Jackson’s character from the first movie) who was clearly not voiced by Sammy L for this game but he was a good impersonator nonetheless. It was really cool to hear all the different growls and roars of the different Dinosaurs though, they are all here.

This game plays just like any of the other Lego games. Levels are lengthened up iconic scenes which requires you to collect studs, smash up and build things and solve the simple puzzles scattered throughout each level. The coolest feature here though, is the ability to play as the Dinosaurs starting with the sick Triceratops (remember her or him?) I was stoked! Finishing a story level opens it up to be played freely which enables you to play through the level again except you can use any unlocked character which you will need if you’re a 100%-er like me.

The question on everyone’s lips though, ever since the fantastic Lego Marvel game is, “Is it open world?” Well yes it is! Each level is separated by a fully explorable hub world consisting of all four locations featured in the films which is completely open for you to explore complete with a map and hidden gold brick locations and different puzzles to solve and unlockables. I was in awe to walk around Isla Nublar (island from the first film) doing what I want in any vehicle or as any Dinosaur, its every Jurassic Park fans dream!

Every single iconic Jurassic Park scene is here.

Loads of characters, vehicles and dinosaurs to play as

Environments are lush and faithfully recreated.

Fully explorable hub worlds are every Jurassic Park fans dream.

Make sure you see Jurassic World before playing the later levels.

    Faithful but generic looking characters.

The Lego games are what they are; humorous takes of iconic moments from classic films. In this case Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. Collecting studs and smashing things up never gets old and the fantastic hub worlds are superb to explore. Lego Jurassic World is nothing more than every Jurassic Park fans dream because it is all here!
