Junior Dance Festival returns

The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival will once again be returning to Blackpool Empress Ballroom for its 70th anniversary.

The annual event, which started in 1947, will run from Monday, April 17 to Sunday, April 23.

The festival attracts more than 1,200 dancers from 33 countries dancing in Ballroom/Latin and Sequence Competitions/Championships.

Over the seven days there are 29 competitions, four Team Matches and three Formation Competitions.

Last year’s festival welcomed more than 400 couples, seven Sequence Formation Teams and 79 Latin/Ballroom Formation Teams into the various events.

On the Saturday and Sunday prior to the event (March 15 and 16), the Winter Gardens will also be hosting the WDC AL Open European Championships, with tickets available through Ticketmaster or from the Opera House Box Office on the day.
