Emma Moore aims to present a new face of country music

Emma Moore will be performing with a five-piece band at West Coast Rock Cafe on June 15 to launch her new album.

The collection, named Pilot, features 10 songs, eight of them self-penned, and Emma hopes a tour on the back of the release could see her playing in Nashville – the home of country music.

Emma says she draws her inspiration from a wide range of singers, including Shania Twain and Loretta Lynn.

She said: “I love the way these women craft stories in their music and deliver their songs with such honesty and depth.

“I have used their influence in writing my own songs as I like to write about traditional topics such as heartache, love and relationships but with an alternative perspective.”

Emma will be performing with a number of musicians on the night, including the album’s producer Justin Johnson, who has performed in the past with Taylor Swift.

The popularity in country music in the UK is enjoying a revival, thanks to the hit success of TV drama Nashville and the emergence of new artists such as the Shires.

Emma said: “I think people are starting to realise that country music isn’t all about hillbillies, drinking moonshine and singing along with a banjo.

“It’s about real, timeless stories and has influenced all genres of music.

“The songs feature beautiful harmonies, clever lyrics and catchy melodies.”

Emma says her ambition is to bring country music even more into the mainstream in the UK and has already performed gigs throughout Lancashire.

The album was recorded at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool.

The two cover songs on record were written by Gareth Thomas from Dexeter – one of the UK’s biggest country music acts and Amy Westney.

Songs range from heartfelt ballads to uptempo rockers.

Tickets for the album launch are available online at wegoticket.com. Doors open at 7pm at the venue in Abingdon Street, Blackpool. Tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the door and copies of the album will be available to buy on the night.
