Curtains up for a hatrick of showstopping productions at The Grand Theatre in September

The world of theatre never sleeps and there is certainly no rest for the team at Blackpool's Grand Theatre where magic is going on behind the scenes to ensure audiences a wealth of wonderful entertainment outside of lockdown.

There is no confirmation just yet when the historic venue will once again open its doors but an exciting Autumn programme is in the works with a September full of showstoppers.

First to see the famous stage of the Grade II listed theatre will be the musical sensation direct from the West End Showstopper!

The musical comedy, created from scratch at each performance of this award-winning show will welcome an audience on September 5 with their suggestions set to bring the stage to life on the spot into all-singing, all-dancing productions with hilarious results.

John Lyons turns Father Brown for The Murder in the Mirror for a five night run from Tuesday September 15.

When a famous actor is found dead just before the opening of his latest West End production, Father Brown – invited by the leading actor to watch the dress rehearsal – sees at once in the shattered dressing room mirror that all is not as it seems.

And if all the possible suspects were on stage at the time, watched by Father Brown, who could possibly be the murderer

Lyons, a familiar face to audiences from his 17 years as DS George Toolan, David Jason’s sidekick in A Touch of Frost plays the fictional Roman Catholic priest and amateur detective who is featured in 53 short stories published between 1910 and 1936 written by English novelist G. K. Chesterton.

Adding a princess touch to the programme is Sleeping with Beauty as 'frock fairies's Baga Chipz, Divina De Campo and Blu Hydrangea, best known from Series 1 of Drag Race UK head to Blackpool Grand Theatre.

As the Kingdom rejoice’s the birth of the Princess Beauty; her christening celebrations begin – Baga, Divina and Blu bespoke their gifts upon the princess but when the evil minger, Carabosse, makes an unwanted visit and leaves a curse upon Princess Beauty that on her 18th Birthday she will prick her finger and die as a result of not being invited to the christening. The kingdom is in bare despair.

Described as a fabulously filthy, camp pantomime adventure audiences are invited to come and see if true love will still prevail and Prince Carl will get the girl.
