On a dry but windy day in Cumbria, Fleetwood took an early lead with a Scott Richardson penalty.

There was an early setback with an injury to Tom Wilson, Zack Coultas replacing him after 10 minutes.

After 23 minutes the first of five yellow cards for Silloth was brandished for a high tackle but the 14 men came back strongly, taking the lead with a try on the right wing.

The conversion made it 7-3, but two Richardson penalties made left Fleet 9-7 in front at half-time, the first of those penalty awards also leaving the Silloth hooker in the sinbin.

Fleetwood were straight out of the blocks after half-time, Richardson adding his fourth penalty.

The visitors first try followed through Coultas following a good run and offload by Peter Benny.

Richardson’s goal left Fleet 19-7 to the good.

Two more Sillith sin-binnings followed, the first for pulling Jack Crompton’s hair, and Fleet took advantage with another converted try, this one by Mike Kelly.

Despite their commanding 26-7 lead, Fleet still wanted two tries for a bonus point and they got them in the final five minutes.

First Tom Evans darted through to score, then Coulton finished a fine length-of-the-field handling move with his second try. Neither try was converted.

Top players for Fleet included Scott Dobbie and Benny, who punched holes in defence, and the versatile Ricky Newton, who switched from second row to centre.
