The 27-year-old New Zealander has been captain of Scottish Premiership club Heriots for the last three seasons, helping them to a string of honours.

Last season the Edinburgh club were crowned BT Premiership champions, besides winning the BT Scottish Cup and the Charity Shield.

Turley, who stands 6ft 5”, was brought up in Auckland and played for New Zealand Schools Select. He moved to Scotland from his homeland in 2012.

His emergence as a major talent in the semi-professional game in Scotland was recognised by a call-up to the Edinburgh Rugby A side in 2014 and then to their Pro12 squad.

He was named in the Scotland Club XV this past season and was a try-scorer in their 57-27 hammering of England Counties in February.

He followed this up a fortnight later by helping the Scotland side to a 19-13 win over an Ireland Club XV, scoring another try.

Turley also intends to start a business venture on the Fylde coast

Fylde’s head coach Paul Arnold said: “I’m really pleased to have signed someone of Jack’s quality and we are very lucky that he is moving to the area for business reasons.

“He is a natural leader, both on and off the pitch, and he has shown this while playing in Scotland.

He has the hard, winning edge that so many New Zealanders show.

“He’s one of the top semi-pros in Scotland’s Premiership and will adapt easily to National One.”

“We are looking at adding some other quality signings to the squad in the coming weeks.”
