Scott Armstrong scored two tries and laid one on for skipper Chris Briers.

Jack Turley also scored for a try, with Greg Smith landing four conversions.

Ionians' reply came via two tries, both unconverted, by Alistair Thomson and Gregory Lound.

Fylde ended the half with 14 as back row forward Matt Lamprey was yellow-carded.

It had not been easy for Fylde - the penalty count against them in the opening 40 minutes was 9-1.
