Poulton's Toby Lester to leave Lancashire Cricket Club

Toby Lester from Poulton will leave Lancashire Cricket Club when his contract expires at the end of the 2020 season.

He made his debut against Essex in 2015 and also played in County Championship matches on loan for Warwickshire during 2018.

The former Loughborough MCCU student made 13 Vitality Blast appearances for Lancashire Lightning and was a regular in the side that reached the semi-finals two years ago. In that season he bowled the final over in the memorable one-run win over Yorkshire Vikings at Emirates Old Trafford.

He leaves the club having taken 15 T20 wickets, with a best return of 4-25 against Derbyshire.

In recent seasons Lester and Red Rose team-mate Steven Croft have also made guest appearances for Lytham in the Liverpool Competition.

Lancashire Director of Cricket Paul Allott, said: “Toby has seen a reduced amount of playing time over the last couple of seasons and we feel now is the right time to let him establish his professional career with another county.

“I would like to thank him for his contributions and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Lester said: “I have loved every second of my six years with Lancashire. I’m hugely excited to start the next chapter of my playing career now, but I will always follow the Red Rose’s fortunes and wish the club every success.”
