Adam, who works as a driving coach when he isn’t racing, has enjoyed huge success with the iconic Ginetta cars.

Crowned Ginetta Junior Champion as an 18-year-old at Myerscough College in 2018, Adam finished fourth overall in last year’s Ginetta GT5 challenge.

For 2020 he has stepped up again to contest the Ginetta G55 Supercup Championship and couldn’t have dreamed of a better venue for his first win.

Having qualified fourth and going on to finish in that position in the first two races on the world-renowned Brands Hatch circuit in Kent, Adam earned pole position for the final race and opened up a slight lead after a good start.

The race was halted at the end of lap one, when an incident brought the safety car onto the track. However, Adam timed the restart well to open up the gap at the front and he proceeded to win in style.

Smalley said: “It was an amazing feeling winning my first race in the championship, especially with it being shown live on ITV4 for millions to see. I’m now feeling very confident going into my next race.”

That will take place closer to home at Oulton Park in Cheshire (August 22 and 23), with a further four race meetings planned before the season ends in mid-November.
