How many times have you set yourself fitness goals or life goals that are not really what you want, but you set them anyway so that you are in line with what society expects of you?

You want to lose two stone because that sounds like a good number to lose, not because it is actually what you want to do.

The only way that you will succeed in achieving whatever goals you set is if they are yours.

We are surrounded by pressure from media and even from friends, although for the most part friends are unaware that they are applying pressure.

We set our goals to compete with people around us and people we aspire to be more like.

It is great to have aspirations but to pursue the goal of someone else is not chasing your own.

Society has told us over the years how to look, how to act, how to eat.

As a result, a lot of people are finding themselves living a life based on what some person with an airbrushed Instagram photograph is telling them.

Your personal goal may just be to be a bit healthier so you can play with your children.

You don’t need to have a low percentage of body fat for that.

You might want to drop one dress size or your goal might be to eat pizza without feeling guilty.

Whatever your goals are, they have to be yours.

Don’t fall into the trap of living your life to be someone else.

Be you and be happy being you.
