A more defensive Fylde looked to score a winner on the counter and did just that when Josh Boyne volleyed home after good work by Oakes and Payne.

Jepson was man of the match and Nick Rainbow was superb in goal, with newcomers Simon Holt and Harry Gordan impressive.

Fylde Ladies won for the first time in this season’s North Conference, beating newly-promoted Didsbury Northern 2-0.

Fylde 6 were well prepared for an early start against Preston 2 in division two and led at half-time through Lilly Jones. Georgia Nicholls sealed the 2-0 win just before the end.

After crushing Preston 10-1, Fylde Men’s 2 faced a tougher test when Wigton visited Mill Farm in North West two north and shared the spoils 3-3.

The fast visiting side mounted early pressure but debutant keeper Cameron McIntyre made some fine stops. Fylde countered and a corner resulted in Dylan Jordan finding the bottom corner.

Wigton equalised but Fylde began to dominate possession, Luca Sempers restoring the lead with a drag-flick to the top corner only for Wigton to pull level again just before half-time.

Despite an injury to Tom Davidson, Sempers again found the top corner despite being on the receiving end of a dangerous tackle which saw a Wigton player yellow-carded.

More yellow cards left Fylde with nine players and Wigton with eight, though they equalised again from a penalty corner. The draw was fair between two sides who will be pushing for promotion.

Fylde 3 lost 3-0 at home to a Windermere 2 side who soon took control of this North West four north north contest. Fylde did not concede a short corner and debutant Chris Dunkerly impressed, while the hard-working Ollie Greenwood was player of the match.
