Sir Bill Beaumont's ambitious aim for new global tournament

The head coach has confirmed that he expects his playing squad to be very similar to that which so narrowly missed out on promotion from National Two North.

And as the coming year is made to look all the more exciting by events held over from the club’s centenary season, including a possible Woodlands clash with the Barbarians, Spragg feels Fylde provide attractive opportunities for businesses after lockdown.

He told The Gazette: “The coaching and playing squad will be much the same next season but there may be some differences in terms of sponsorship. Hopefully there will be renewed interest as a result of how close we came to promotion and we think we have a positive story for sponsors.

“The centenary season being cut short means next season may be busier in terms of the events we stage and we are trying to reschedule the Barbarians game.

“Of course they are affected by the current crisis too because they rely on funding and sponsorship. They will not want to miss out on the matches and other commitments they had scheduled.”
