Emily Kernick won the Ladies’ Waterloo, beating Sharon Rigden 21-8 in the final.

The beaten semi-finalists were Dawn Bray and Alex Edmondson.

Paul Dudley won the Masters, defeating Darren Edmondson 21-20 in a thrilling final.

The Waterloo remains the most famous title in the sport and these competitions are now well established at the Upper Lune Street venue after leaving their traditional Blackpool home.

This finals week was a great success for first-time organiser Heidi Sutton, who thanked all involved; particularly sponsors Grange Valley Amusements.

She said: “Congratulations to Gareth, whose play was fantastic all week, and commiserations to Dan Petcher, one of the nicest men in bowls.

“Hopefully we will see you both next year. Entries for the 2025 Waterloo will open on January 1.”
