New sport at Hodgson puts spring in everyone's step

It gives pupils the opportunity to experience a challenging new activity, while boosting their GCSE practical grades at the same time.

All Stars was invited to a session at Hodgson Academy in Poulton, where weekly clubs for boys and girls have begun as an extension to the curriculum-based sessions.

Lead teacher in PE Craig McCann said: “The progress and determination of our pupils has been breathtaking, with many beginners becoming proficient and confident performing difficult skills into routines ready for competition.

“The local secondary schools have put this new sport on the competitive calendar after the half-term break, allowing more pupils to represent their schools in an aesthetic domain.”
