Mixed emotions for Lancashire's Steven Croft after rain hits latest return to Blackpool

The hosts did reach 50-1 but after just 8.2 overs and plenty of waiting around hoping the weather would change, that was that.

“We had a brilliant few weeks leading into this game but unfortunately the weather got the better of us,” said Croft.

“We had a really good start, it looked a nice wicket and the crowd was really building up.

“We missed out a nice day’s cricket.

“It’s always great to come back though. I got in early this morning and you can’t really walk too far with someone saying ‘we made you at this ground’!

“It’s brilliant to come back where it all started. Everyone’s so friendly and gave me a warm welcome back.”

The no result leaves Lancashire with just one win from their opening four games at the halfway point of the North Group.

Glen Chapple’s men will now need a good run to progress to the knockout stages, starting at Worcestershire on Sunday.

“There’s four games gone now and we feel we could have won all of them,” said Croft.

“We haven’t been outplayed or played a lot of poor cricket.

“The Notts game we had it and it slipped away, we beat Durham and then the Northants loss we didn’t bowl as well as we could have done.

“You only get eight games and you seem to two or three washed out so every game is vital towards the back end of the competition.

“We’ve just let it slip at vital times but we’re going into the next game full of confidence.

“No-one is running away with it so far so every team you’re going to come against is competitive.

“We’ll be looking for that second win on Sunday.”
