That was certainly the way Blackpool North Shore golfer Lesley Askham went about it when she took part in a national team competition that was on a real knife-edge.

She and her North Shore team-mates were playing at Royal Lytham and St Annes against the home side in the Mail On Sunday competition.

The match was all-square at the end, and Lesley had to play the first extra hole in a sudden-death play-off.

All doubts about the outcome were swept aside when Lesley holed-in-one at the famous first hole at Lytham, the par three.

That was the signal for her to be congratulated by her team-mates Lindsey Ellwood, Lynn Atcheson, Olive Moore and Ann Marrow.

It was the second ace that Lesley has registered - the 10-handicapper performed the feat previously at Lancaster Golf Club.
