Fylde’s indifferent away form continued as they lost to strugglers Loughborough in this disappointing National League One clash.

Fylde took an early lead with a try by skipper Evan Stewart, back from a groin injury and playing against his old college - Chris Johnson added the goal points.

Loughborough hit back to level with an interception try.

Both sides had chances to increase their lead in a match played in difficult conditions and with a number of errors, but the scores remained locked at 7-7 by half-time.

The home side drew first blood in the second half with a converted try by Tom James to put Loughborough in front 14-7 at which point the home side were getting on top.

Fylde were reduced to 14-men for 10 minutes when fly-half Johnson was sin-binned for an off-the-ball tackle on an afternoon when much of the play was scrappy.

The visitors mounted attacks in an attempt to retrieve the situation, but Loughborough held firm as the contest came to the closing stages and secured a valuable win at Fylde’s expense.
