Spencer Phillips scored a fantastic five goals in BJFF Blades' 7-0 Blackpool and District Youth League success against Poulton FC at Bispham Gala Field.

And if it’s any consolation to the visitors, seven is the fewest BJ have scored in any game so far this season.

Their four matches have yielded 40 goals and the Bispham side are already looking unstoppable.

Having opened the scoring after around 10 minutes, the Blades added another three before half-time and a further four in the second half.

While Phillips’ five-card-trick of splendid strikers’ finishes dealt BJ a match-winning hand, his fellow frontman Harrison Giggal was outstanding and scored the other two in spectacular style.

Giggal, who netted in each half, scored with a sublime chip and then with a piledriving shot after a 40-yard run.

Having won the Saturday and Sunday league titles last season, the Blades are bidding to add the Lancashire FA Cup this season and have a home tie against Holker this weekend.

Blades manager Lee Willetts said: We have a strong side but credit also to the coaches for really getting the lads playing.”

Poulton manager Parrish Cobb didn’t want to single out any players as his side adapt to 11-a-side.

And he took his hat off to the opposition, saying: “BJ have been head and shoulders above the rest for years and the rest of us are scrapping for second place really.

“But everyone was back in training with a smile on their face this week and that’s what it is all about.”
