Nirrenold, who has been studying a business degree at Erskine College and Nova Southeastern University in America, has previously represented FC Miami City and Lauderhill Lions.

Since his arrival on the Fylde Coast, the 24-year-old has impressed in a number of development matches, including the 1-0 win at Burnley last Tuesday, completing the full 90 minutes.

Delighted with the signing, manager Graham Alexander said: “Victor came over on trial from America after we watched video footage of him playing. Steve Davis contacted his representative and we organised the trial.

“He came over for a couple of weeks. Straight away we saw he had a great attitude. When he first came over, he landed in London and it took him until 3am to arrive here.

“He was straight into training the first day and was asking for extra work on his day off. We knew straight away he had a fantastic attitude.

“He is six foot four; he is very quick and comfortable on the ball.

“We wanted to see how he would adapt to our training and a couple of friendly matches. He has acquitted himself very well and he can play in numerous positions.

“Victor is comfortable playing central midfield as well as in defence. We think that Victor is a very good footballer.

“He has gone under the radar a little bit because of him completing his education in America. We are delighted to offer him a contract and see how he progresses. We think there is a lot of potential.

“He will go straight into the first team squad. He has been training with the first team every day. He has got the raw materials to be a very good footballer for Fleetwood Town.

“There is improvement to be made to Victor’s game as in getting used the competitiveness and tempo of English football. We will be patient with him to allow Victor the best possible chance but we think we have a very good player on our hands.”

Victor has been handed the number 15 shirt for the 2015/16 season.
