Former Blackpool favourite Gary Taylor-Fletcher has been placed in temporary charge of Welsh outfit Bangor City.

It comes after their manager Ian Dawes was relieved of his duties after the Welsh Premier League club's 1-1 draw at Gap Connah's Quay.

A statement on Bangor City’s official website reveals Dawes has left as a result of not being able to achieve acceptance on a UEFA Pro Licence course.

Taylor-Fletcher, who only recently signed for the club, will take charge of the club for the remainder of the season.

The club said: “Bangor City FC has decided to relieve Ian Dawes of his duties as First Team Manager forthwith due to the inability to gain his acceptance on the current Pro Licence course in accordance with UEFA club licensing criteria.

"The post will be advertised shortly and careful consideration of the future development of the club will be paramount so the correct choice can be made.

"Gary Taylor-Fletcher will take temporary charge of First Team affairs for the remaining WPL fixtures.”

The announcement is Bangor’s third managerial switch this season, having parted ways with Neville Powell in the summer before hiring Andy Legg who left the club in November.

The Citizens remain in with a chance of European qualification after Rodrigo Branco’s late equaliser at Deeside, but must win all of their remaining games to stay in with a chance.
