The in-form striker made Pool pay with an 87th minute winner, one the home side probably deserved.

Blackpool got off to the best possible start when Tom Aldred fired them ahead on just two minutes with a powerful header from a David Norris cross.

It saw Pool drop deep and invite the hosts on, and on 17 minutes they drew level when star man Nicky Ajose made the most of a poor mistake by Colin Doyle.

The usually reliable keeper fumbled a long-range Jonathon Obika strike right into the path of Ajose who scored the easiest of tap-ins.

That was as good as it got in a poor first half, with neither side looking likely to adding to their tally.

After the break it was the home side who dominated possession, and just past the hour mark they went ahead.

Bradley Barry did well down the right-hand side and his teasing ball was met by Ajose at the back post who turned it home.

Just as it looked like Pool were running out of ideas, they drew level, again a corner causing the problems.

Jim McAlister’s deep dead ball was heading the way of Clark Robertson, only for the defender to be hauled down in the area.

Danny Philliskirk stood up to slam the ball home from twelve yards.

In the end it would be Swindon’s day as Ajose completed his hat-trick to win it in the dying moments.

His effort from the edge of the area crept past Doyle as Aldred in front of him left the keeper in two minds.
