Last night’s stalemate at home to struggling Northampton was Town's second successive goalless draw under Wiles, who has been in charge for five games sinces replacing Joey Barton on January 4.

However, far from being downbeat, the enthusiastic Wiles appears to be relishing his new position and the challenges it brings

“It’s the same as always,” said Wiles after Town's second 0-0 draw in four days. “I’m just taking each day as it comes and each game as it comes.

“I’m enjoying it and I just want to get those three points as much as anybody else associated with the club.

“I’m enjoying the challenges this brings, and I’m learning things each and every day at this level.

“I’ll have a much bigger smile on my face when we pick up those three points and get some victories under our belt but there are positives to take.

“We’ve kept two clean sheets and we’re unbeaten in two games, which is pleasing. Again it gives us that platform to go and get the three points.

“There so much awareness to take in regarding what goes on at senior level.

“Every day I’m learning different things about the role. I’m getting to know the players much more, which is good, and myself and (assistant) Steve Macauley have really embraced that.

“We’re huge on getting to know individuals, and finding the best way that they learn and how they’re going to develop and get victories.

“We’re in that transition phase now, where we’ve picked up two good points, but it’s all about getting the three points now."

It was an entertaining opening 45 minutes at a bitterly cold Highbury, though the Cobblers probably came closest to breaking the deadlock when Fleetwood keeper Alex Cairns raced out superbly to deny Ryan Edmondson in a one-on-one situation.

Town’s best chances came from the recalled Harvey Saunders, courtesy of an acrobatic effort, and Callum Camps, whose dipping free-kick was brilliantly tipped over the top by Jonathon Mitchell.

Paddy Madden went close in the second half but the visitors looked more likely to snatch a decisive goal as the game wore on. Fleetwood have scored four goals in their last 10 league outings.
