Town's third League One defeat in four games was not as one-sided as the scoreline may suggest, with Grayson's side pressing for an equaliser after Sam Finley made it 2-1 just beyond the hour.

And their head coach believes there are lessons to learn for the remaining two games of this season and beyond.

Simon Grayson says Fleetwood Town must manage matches better when they are on top and when they aren't

Grayson said: “We did ask a lot of questions, especially in that second half, so it is disappointing to lose 5-2.

“We had been dominant in that second half. We just need to make sure that when we’re on top in games next season we have the focus to make sure teams don’t do us on the counter-attack.

"It was down to the quality of the goals they scored but we probably do have to manage the game better, whether that's when a team puts you under pressure - like Burton did in the first half with the way they play - or not giving the opposition a sniff when you are on top. If you do that at any level teams can punish you.

"You have to learn from every game, even when you keep clean sheets, and I'm sure they will learn from tonight.

" They were real top-quality goals. It wasn't as if players made too many individual mistakes but we could have managed the situation a little better before they got into goalscoring positions."
